What are Freight Services?
Freight services involve the transportation of goods from one location to another. They are essential for businesses that need to move products efficiently.
-
- Less-than-Truckload (LTL): Ideal for shipments that don’t require a full trailer, typically between 150 and 15,000 pounds. Multiple shippers share trailer space, making it a cost-effective choice for small businesses.
- Full Truckload (FTL): Used when a single shipment occupies an entire trailer or requires a dedicated vehicle for security or speed. This is the fastest land-based option for large quantities.
- Intermodal Freight: Involves moving cargo using two or more modes of transport—such as rail, ship, and truck—without handling the freight itself when changing modes, usually within standardized containers.
- Final Mile / White Glove: Specialized services that handle the last leg of delivery, often including inside delivery, assembly, or removal of old items for a premium customer experience.
- Expedited Freight: A high-priority service for time-sensitive shipments, often using team drivers to keep trucks moving 24/7 or smaller box trucks for rapid transit.
Primary Freight Service Types
